Continuing on from POS Defence

Logging into my wormhole I noticed that there was a Enyo on scan so I warped over to the Khanid Guard POS and found the Enyo there, so I started up a conversation in local with him.

?[ 2010.02.28 12:56:05 ] Fishy Night > yeah that would be great

?[ 2010.02.28 12:56:11 ] FireFrenzy > done

So now we are all friends and life is good. With these guys running sleeper sites in the wormhole the amount of sites present should drop soon which will make it allot easier for me to probe out my high sec exits. Additionally, they are killing people that intrude into the wormhole system which makes my POS that little bit safer. So it looks like everything is good for now.=

The Captains Log 28/2

Solar System:  Undisclosed

Star Base: Gaia

In Empire

My alt corp got War Deced, no doubt some opportunistic person was looking around for POS’s to shoot and steal their modules when they found my high sec POS  that I let go offline and thus they decided to take it out. Sort of ironic isn’t it. The corp that war deced me was Have Your Cake and Eat It, a four man corp that according to battleclinic has lost five ships and killed none. Well that would have a been a fun war dec. Indeed I would have actually fought the aggressors if the war dec hadn’t of gone live while I was at work. As it was, I put enough fuel in POS to keep it going for a few days, took down my labs, onlined my shield hardeners and onlined my some 16 ECM batteries. With the end result being, Have Your Cake and Eat It dropping their war dec. Not surprising as that is exactly what I would have done in CPR. A pity really as I have a Scorpion set up I wanted to try out and a little Empire War would have been perfect for that.

In Wormhole Space

Naturally there are a few visitors in my wormhole system so it was not that suppressing that yesterday when utilising my D-Scan I located a number of Tengu’s flying around, some of which were not named thus giving me the pilots names and their corporation, Khanid Guard a 45 man corp. As I am a sociable creature I started up a conversation with them in local

Fishy Night > Gday

Chaeon > o/

Fishy Night > running the plexs in here?

Chaeon > nope hunting

Fishy Night > any luck?

Chaeon > lions and tiger adnd bears OH MY

Fishy Night > be carefull with them they are dangours  :)

Chaeon > :)

How nice, but it was no problem for me as I didn’t plan on making any market trips. However, when I logged on today I noticed that there was another POS up in my system so I went and check it out. Guess who owned it, Khanid Guard. Potentially, not good. In a buzz of activity I start doing some intel gathering on them to determine which course of action I should take.

So far my conclusions are.

They have weakly defended small Amarr control tower which will be no problem at all to take down. Additionally, there tower does not contain a large ship assembly array so they will not be building any Battleships in my wormhole, which would pose a real problem to my POS’s safety. As it is they can only fly in Battlecruisers and smaller, which will not hurt my large POS unless they bring in a large number of them.

There Battleclinic statistics also show that they have a total of 92 kills and 192 losses. Most of their kills are by one person or at most a few people, which leads me to believe that they for the most part do not run organised fleets, which is what would be required to take down my POS’s. Also looking at their kills I see a lot of kills utilising stealth bombers (particularly in HED-GP), nija salvagers kills (with a Rattlesnake no less) and even some battle Hulk kills against what I presume to be can flippers, though I do have to wonder about this kill where they have used a Hulk to kill one of their own members… This leads me to believe they are for the most part industrialists but that they also don’t mind going out into low sec and null sec for a bit of PvP, but that it isn’t their main goal in life.

So all this leaves me with three options.

  1. A Pre-emptive attack
  2. Abandon the fort
  3. Be friends

At the moment I don’t believe they have the military strength to take down my POS’s and thus give me any reason to abandon my POS operations, though they may be a hindrance when it comes to moving assets in and out of the wormhole. Alternatively they haven’t given any indication that they are going to attack me and thus warrant a Pre-emptive attack, which could anger them and thus make them come back in force. Therefore I will open up negotiations with them as I believe they are in here to mine out the grav and ladar sites, which could be mutually beneficial as I need minerals to build the battleships I plan on having stationed in here. However, if they attack me my response will be swift. There tower will go down.

Up and Running

The Captains Log 25/2

Solar System: Unknown

Starbase: Gaia

The POS’s are up and  the reactions are underway and money should start flowing into my pockets soon enough. It was a bit of a hassle to get the POS’s up, not because it was difficult to do so but because it was so time consuming in getting the modules  there as I had to haul in some 500k m3 of assets into my wormhole and then getting all the modules up and running which took a lot of time. All up I have anchored

3 x Control towers

3 x Corporate hanger arrays

12 x Silos

4 x Coupling arrays

2 x Simple reactors

2 x Complex reactors

1 x Ship maintenance array

9 x shield harders

60 x defence modules.

It was also made longer by the fact that I can only anchor a single tower per day. However It is all over now, so all I have to worry about is hauling minerals and fuel.

At the moment I only have a couple of days worth of moon minerals to react so for the next couple of weeks the POS’s will be operating on a shoestring budget as I get Fullerides, sell, them buy more minerals and react them together and then get more fullerides to sell and buy fuel. Once I have enough ISK to buy a stockpile of minerals and fuel the whole operation will run allot smoother without constant attention from me.

When I first started colonising this system it had plenty of combat sites in it. However, a team of five Drakes has emptied the system of all the combat sites leaving behind only the ladar and gravimetric sites, which is sort of disappointing as I wanted to shoot some sleepers. On the plus side scanning is fair bit easier with out all that clutter. The grav sites though will come into use as I plan on building some Battleships in here to knock any intruders around. Using battleships will give me a large advantage as only Battlecruisers or small will be able to enter my system.

Here are some pretty pictures of my POS’s.

Here we have a image from which the positions of all three of my POS’s can be seen.

Gaia, as you can see is located within the planetary rings of is planet making for a nice scene.

Terra Mater overlooking the gas giant. Gaia is located on the left hand side of the rings.

The Captains Log 22/2

Solar System: Uknown

Shiptype: Buzzard Class Covert Ops

Well I got the two billion ISK I needed to buy POS’s, POS modules, fuel, moon minerals and even a freighter to start running some moon reactions to get a bit of a passive income stream. The next stage was finding some moons to put the POS’s on.

I decided to run a Fullerite reaction as I found a lovely little low sec system that had three quarters of the moons I needed, so I loaded up my freighter and prepared to set up shop. However when, I went to online my POS a lovely little message came up saying that I did not have the required standing with the Amarr Empire to online a POS in that system. Then I also realised the system I was in had a sec status of .4. You can only moon mine and run moon reactions in systems .3 and bellow. So here I am with two billion invested in moon reactions and I can’t run them. Well it was time to move on too plan B; find a class one wormhole to operate out off it.

Step one of Plan B was to buy Buzzard and kit it out will the goods;  Rigs, Sisters probe launcher and sisters probes which I found lying around in one of my hangers. Oddly enough the only time I was operating out of that system was when I was suicide ganking hulks so I don’t know why I had Sisters Probes in that system.

Step two was to probe out a wormhole, which was followed by step three; more probing and then step 4; even more probing and then lots more steps involving probing.  The first wormhole took me into a C2 system, close to what I wanted, but not quite there.  In that system I found another wormhole leading to another C2 system that some 60 exploration sites in there (including anomalies), which I tried to trade on the forums for the location of a C1 with a static empire exit. Unfortunately this was to no avail. So I left that system through a null sec exit and ended up in deep Stain, the last place I wanted to be as to get out I either have to go through HED-GP in catch (perma camped by AAA) or providence, which is currently on fire. So I went back to probing and found a class 5 system where the locals were not very friendly tried there hardest to kill me. Thankfully my skills add avoining camps a getting better or maybe the hostile pilots were just inept. Either way I got away and found another C5 which didn’t contain people trying to kill me. This C5 system took me to a C3 system which then led to deep low sec in gallante space. At least there are no bubbles in low sec to trap me on gates. I shortly thereafter found another C3 system were another wormhole was found that  took me to a new area of low sec that was only 15 jumps through High sec to get back to Ashab. From there I found some more class two wormholes which eventually took me to a C1 system. About bloody time as well.

The C1 system had a wormhole leading to high sec, which is what I wanted, however I had to make sure it was a static high sec exit. So off I went to get my Hurricane, the same one I used to bump Chribba off his POS when we stole it, and proceeded to collapse the wormhole. It took me 50 jumps, but it got done. Probe the system again and guess what I found, a wormhole leading to High sec. Perfect.

So now I am getting my POS’s into position. Soon this wormhole will be mine.

Captains Log 3/2

Solar system: Irnin

Ship: Armageddon Class Battleship

After the Chribba incident CONCORD Preservation and Recovery has taken a bit of hiatus to recuperate, reship and locate more POS’s to kill (I believe we have some 160 targets now).

The first target we were going to hit was a little German industry corp who had admittedly a POS that wasn’t worth much. They did however have their ship maintenance array anchored outside of the POS shields and I couldn’t let such stupidity pass me by so in went the war dec. They however went along and unanchored the ship maintenance array, put up POS defences and got a mercenary corporation to war dec us. Ahh well, I only wanted that ship maintenance array and now it was gone so the war got retracted.

The next target had a two POS, a offlined small Caldari POS with a couple of guns anchored around it and a medium Caldari POS Science and industry worth about 750mill. In went that war dec. The POS shootout was quite uneventful and it only took a couple of ours to put the POS into reinforced, after which most of us logged of. Me and a few others though decided to kill the small POS for shits and giggles.

Halfway through the owner of POS comes into system and negations start on ransoming his POS. I wanted one billion ISK, he offered 300mill I said 600mill he said 400million. In the end we came down to 400million plus his small POS we were shooting. He agreed. The only problem was we had taken the small POS to 25% shields and he couldn’t unanchor the guns and thus unanchor the POS. So we had to sit there repping his POS so we could get it.

Turns out using a geddon with three large shield reppers isn’t the most efficient way of repping a POS, but we got there in the end. It just took more time to do then what it did to shoot the POS in the first place. Still we cant complain we got a nice payout from it.

A Industrial Empire

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

The Captains Log

Solar system: Hermin

Ship Class: Iteron V

Well ok it’s not an industrial empire but we can all dream cant we. So far I have set up my industry and trading corp and got myself a research and production POS up and running, which has done a little bit of production and a little bit of blueprint research. I plan on getting it to run at full capacity once my invention skills are up to scratch allowing me to get a good invention success rate.

A weapons factory

Of course I have also put a number of defences on the POS since I know there are people out there that like to go around ganking undefended POS and stealing all the modules. Luckily I know most of the people that do that.

I plan on expanding my industrial empire by putting up some reaction POS’s and getting more involved in trading once again, but that has to wait till I get some cash to invest in it..

Well I have POS’s to manage and build orders fill, I had better get to it.

Well my attacks on Chribba have being making the rounds in more official news circles lately.

First there was this article, Chribbas Butterfly War, written by Mike Azariah in the Eve Tribune which gives a nice run down of what was going through the minds of all the involved parties. However it is only on page 3! Should be the front page : )

Then the Interstellar Correspondents released a in game news articles, Eco-Terrorists Attack Chribba’s Starbases; Capsuleers Rally To Defend, which gave me much more publicity.

There has being a couple of blog posts about it as well, one by Hallan Turek and the other by Manasi.

Other than that though I got this mail yesterday

Thanks for entering the recent Dominion screenshot competition in E-ON magazine. This message is to inform you that your entry was chosen for publication and that we have a copy of the latest magazine to send to you… you can also expect 100m ISK in your wallet too!

Well that makes me even happier. One of my screenshoots I took is making it into EON magazine! You will have to wait until then though to see which picture it is.

Also Kaye Talon, one of CPRs members, wrote a little fiction piece about joining CPR and then another one about a very nice POS take down we did recently. Go read them they are well written.

The Captains Log 14/11

System: Amarr, Domain

Station: Emperor Family Academy

The lunar environments found throughout New Eden offer some of the most unique geological landscapes to be found throughout the cluster. Currently, though these geological wonders are being destroyed at an alarming rate by the aggressive strip mining of lunar materials, particularly out in Null Sec space. Seeing the positional destruction to the lunar surfaces in High Sec CONCORD has prevented the use of moon harvesting arrays in High Sec space in an attempt to save the lunar environments it has jurisdiction over.

However, this is not enough, as there is a more insidious danger to lunar environments, in the form of abandoned Control Towers and their associated modules. While in operation the owners of starbases have to comply with strict guidelines that prevent damage to the lunar surfaces they are anchored above to help preserve the geological formations found on moons. However, once a starbase is abandoned and left in orbit above a lunar body the resifule contaminates found inside a starbase, such as enriched uranium, various isotopes and heavy water, are prone to leaking out of the control tower and damaging the lunar surface.

Due to this CONCORD Preservation and Recovery aims to remove abandoned starbases from lunar orbit in an effort to help the lunar surfaces recover to their natural state and then preserve these geological wonders found on lunar surfaces for the future enjoyment of the citizens of New Eden.

Well as you all know Daq and I have started to kill POS’s we find in high sec, so we started a new Corporation just do that, which we have called CONCORD Preservation and Recovery.
