Wormhole Treasures

The Captains Log 15/7

Solarsystem: Unknown

Shiptype: Armageddon Class Battleship

In wormholes there are plenty of treasures to be found; such as POS’s that are about to come out of reinforced. Now you may ask how is this a treasure? Well its quite simple. If a POS is in reinforced it means that someone has put it into reinforced and therefore someone has to come back and finish destroying it; which means we can get ourselves a fight.

So we got a remote rep Battleship fleet together in preparation for destroying some random fleet and at a random POS.  15 minutes before the POS was due to come out of reinforced a Chained Reaction fleet consisting of a Manticore, Hound, Sleipnir, Nighthawk, 2x Armageddon’s, Raven and a Typhoon landed on the WH and proceeded to move to the POS.

That was our queue. Our Broadsword went in got initial aggro and points and was promptly destroyed. That was all right though because as he blew up we landed and proceeded to annihilate the enemy fleet (Battle Report). Unfortunate the Hound and Typhoon got away, but you can’t have everything I guess.

After wiping out that fleet we removed the control tower they were shooting as well and used the Badger Mark II and Bestower the original POS had left there to haul all his POS modals out. It was at this time a pilot affliated with them contacted us about what had just happened.

Lyanca > any of you guys mind sharing a battle report on my carebear friends you guys just raped in J102602

Lyanca > these guys don’t post their lossmails

Sorakage > why did you want to kill that pos ? something personal ? or .. ?

Lyanca > I don’t know why they did sorakage

Lyanca > but we usually siege badly defended pos’s in wh space

Lyanca > random

Sorakage > we randomly killed you :)

Lyanca > you weren’t even hired?

Alekseyev Karrde > nope

Lyanca > that’s frikkin excellent

Alekseyev Karrde > prober found hole w rf’d pos, we kept eyes to see what would show up to kill it

Alekseyev Karrde > unfortunatly for them the highsec entrance was 4j from our base this week

Sorakage > we weren`t going contract mode, or everything would have died , hound+ phoon

Lyanca > yeah well played

Lyanca > lol

Lyanca > almost happy I wasn’t there

All I can say is bad luck for them. They randomly find a POS they want to destroy and we randomly find them.

The Captains Log

SolarSystem: J100616

Shiptype:  Vagabond Class Heavy Assult Ship

I log into our little pocket and notice that there is a neutral, who is a member of Sleepless Psychos, in HP-. Now I want kill, so I decided to sit on the HP- gate in my newly acquired Vagabond and wait for him to come to me.

However this was not to happen. Vaelastra, one of ze Germans, jumps onto comms and tells us all to get into HP- and warp to him. He has found a Wormhole that currently has a Raven, Rook and Pilgrim sitting on the entrance. My Vagabond was the first into the breach and as soon as I loaded the grid I panicked upon seeing my shields drop the half of what they were, thankfully though it was just the Pulsar in the system increasing my Shield capacity by 85%.

Primary was called on the Raven and I started to laying into it with my Autocannons. Then the battle started to heat up. A hostile Onyx and Tengu warped in so primary was called on the Tengu. Then an Orca warped in….. so we destroyed it and put the mystery of a battle Orca behind us as two more Hostile Tengus landed on grid. Talking to the enemy combatants after the battle was over we found that the Orca had been squad warped. Poor guy.

The hostile and Pilgrim, Raven and Rook we had originally intended to engage warped out leaving us with three Tengus and an Onyx to fight. While our fleet numbers had increased with a mixture of random ships. The call was going throughout our alliance that we needed more ships and more DPS. The Tengus we were fighting were very well fitted with Shield Transfers on each ship that gave them the equivalent of three Scimitars repairing each other.

We lost our first ship, a Pilgrim, to the Tengus. This was the first major fight I had been in my Vagabond. When I first got it I asked for some advice in how to fly and I was given some simple and easy to follow advice. Stay out of scram range. If you get scrammed you are dead. I followed this to the letter and whenever I saw the Tengus heading towards me I burned out from them. Unfortunately, Sunstroke in his Vagabond wasn’t so lucky. The Vagabond loss was then followed by a Drake.

So far we were losing this battle, and that would not stand.

The battle began to swing in our favour when an enemy Curse landed, which was a major threat to us as it would be able to neut our capacitor, tacking out our propulsion mods and allowing those Tengus to run us down. Unfortunately for the Curse though, he landed away from the Tengus and was promptly tackled and destroyed. A hostile Cyclone also landed on the field, but couldn’t tank the DPS we poured into it. As the Cyclone was going down the enemy Onyx dropped its bubble and left the field, only to come back in a Falcon. The Falcon was pointed by GreenYoshi in his Cynbal, however the Falcon jammed him. The Falcon wasn’t going to get away that easily though, as I got a point on him as well. The paper tank on the Falcon soon collapsed and we had another kill in the bag.

With the Falcons destruction and our numbers increasing the Tengus decided it was time bail. They deaggressed and burned back towards the wormhole, which they jumped through. We promptly followed them through only to watch them jump back into the wormhole. We followed them again and watched as one Tengu warped off and the other two Tengus get caught in our Broadswords bubble. That was the end of those Tengus. While they were able to remote repair each other when all three of them were present, two of them couldn’t keep up the DPS been pumped out ships. One Tengu was destroyed, marking my first T3 kill ever followed by the second Tengu.

After slogging it out with Sleepless Psychos for 10 minutes Noir had prevailed.

This is probably the best battle I have ever been in while playing Eve. It wasn’t a Gank and we were not fighting a Blob. It was a fight against a well organised corporation that knew what they were doing. It was a fair fight. My hat goes off Sleepless Psychos for bringing us that fight.

The Captains Log 8/5

SolarSystem: GA9P-0

Station: Suo Tamaki House of Refinem

About once every week I need to haul fuel and minerals and to my WH POS. I normally do this by afk auto piloting my freighter from a trade hub to the wormhole entry system and then once my POS’s have all the fuel and minerals they need I auto pilot back to a trade hub. Now one day after I have travelled to my wormhole entry system and I am getting ready to head back, I set my autopilot to Jita and its tells me the safest route to Jita will take me through two low sec systems. Looking at Dotlan maps I notice the system I am in is surrounded by low sec systems. All of a sudden it dawns on me that I have auto piloted through two low sec systems in freighter and I did not get it blown up. Sometimes I am bloody lucky.

Recently we were contracted to kill as many Rouge Elements pilots as possible (/me waves at Havv0c) out in Insmother. Upon jumping into R-RAEL to get to the contract area, there was a little gate camp with some sucker bubbles set up, well that was no problem for me, so I warped of to a planet from which I intended to warp to the exit gate. The exit gate though was camped and I got sucked into one of the three drag bubbles they had set up. The guys camping the gate though were already involved in combat, which I thought was lucky for me as it would give me a chance to get out of the camp. However, I wasn’t that a lucky. A Vagabond noticed me, pointed and began to follow me as I made a beeline back to the gate. My shield got striped, my armour got torn off and started to take structure damage. The gate was just there. I was about to make it, if only my structure didn’t give way.

I got within jump range.

I spammed the jump button.

I jumped, with 26% structure left.

Fuck I’m good.

With my get away done I warped to the next gate jumped and was promptly killed by a Sabre.

Sometimes your unlucky.

The Captains Log 5/4

Solarsystem: Amarr

Station: Emperor Family Academy

Well I have spent the last two days getting ready for rather big op that Noir. is going to put into effect in the next couple of hours. The fact that I have got a fleet ready for this op is quite amazing as I normally buy a ship, lose it, buy another and never have any ships prepared in advance to replace my losses. Well so far my fleet consists of

1 x Chimera

1 x Sniper Apoc

2 x Short range Geddons

1 x Cerabus

1 x Taranis

4 x Manticore (3 torp boats and 1 bombing platform)

So as you can see I have a nice choice of what I can use depending on what the situation calls for. The next week is going to be fun indeed.

Contract: Primary Alliance

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

The Captains Log 24/3

Solar system: Q4C-S5

Shiptype: Manticore Class Stealth Bomber

Well I have finished my first contract with Noir, which was against Primary Alliance in Scalding Pass. Apparently this was a contract people were getting sick of as it was a three week long contract (originally it was four) out in deep 0.0, though I didn’t have any issues with it as I came in the last week of the contract. For me it was thoroughly enjoyable being able to fight with professional PvPers who know what they are doing.

The first kills I acquired in Noir was when we broke a up a Total Damnation gate camp by, not who were contracted to kill, but when Primary wouldn’t undock from their stations we tend to shoot who ever wanders into the contract area. I was in my trusty Manticore, while the rest of the Noir gang was flying mainly Stealth Bombers and Recons with a little bit of tackle thrown in there. The hostile gang consisted of Battle Cruisers and Cruisers for the most part. They got flattened, losing all six of their ships while we lost nothing. Very professional if I must say so myself.

Then next targets that I found were a Retriever and Drake sitting in belt, a perfect target. I warped in my Manticore so I could get a warp in for the rest of the fleet, only to bounce of Asteroid and lose my cloak. Fuck there went the element of surprise. However, I wasn’t going to let them go just because the battle plan got screwed up. I put my sensor damp on the Drake preventing him from shooting me while I laid into the Retriever, three volleys later the Retriever was down and the Drake ran away.

My favourite kill though was Myrmidon, which I soloed in my Manticore, which has no point and no tank. I was sitting on the 4-C gate in Q4C-S5 when a Myrmidon warps onto the gate and sits there. Now at that time I was quite bored and wanted to shoot something, even if I couldn’t kill him. The corp members on vent told me not to bother, he was bait and a Primary gang would land on top of me as soon as I engaged. As I said though, I was bored so I decloaked and open fired.

I knocked out his shields and there was no sign of a hostile gang.

I started taking out his armour. He didn’t move or shoot back. My corp mates said he was playing with me and would turn on his duel reps and rep his armour right on back up.

I took out most of his armour and then ran out of torps so I had to reload. No sign of reinforcements.

Torps reloaded so I open fire again and blow his ship up.

For good measure I blow up his Pod as well. I hope he had expensive implants.

I hope you all learnt something from that.

So far the only problem I have had with Noir is due to timezones as it tends to be quite during the Australian prime time, which has led me to start training to use a Vagabond so I can get involved in some more solo fights. Unfortunately, that is over a month away.

On that not Noir. is recruiting so if you think you have what it takes to be a mercenary apply to join us.

A Tale of 11 Rifters

The Captains Log 8/3

Solar system: Doril

Station: Archangels Assembly Plant

After running some reactions in my Wormhole I had a 100mill to spare, which I decided to use to buy some more ships for PvP. With 100mill there is a wide option of ships that I can procure, but I decided to go back to basics and bought myself 10 Rifters with fittings.

High Slot

            3 x 200mm Autocannon II’s

            1 x OE-5200 Rocket Launcher

Mid Slot

            1 x 1MN Afterburner II

            1 x Warp Scrambler II

            1 x Stasis Webifier II

Low Slot

            1 x Damage Control II

            1 x 100mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I

            1 x Small Armour Rep

Rigs

2 x Small Trimark Armour Pumps

            1 x Projectile Collision Accelerator I

One they had all being procured I transported them down to Doril for a bit of fun.

Rifter 1

Battles:

            Rifter vs Punisher – Defeat

A few of us OUCH members were camping the Sendaya gate in Doril when a Punisher flown BullMastiff, a member of Outbreak, warped on grid onto a perch spot above the gate. Before we go on, a little information about our relationship with Outbreak. OUCH members and Outbreak are friends but we will shot each other on sight, we just do it nicely. We have had a few organised fights against Outbreak when neither of us could find targets to shoot and Outbreak will often provide us with advice and will even set up bubbles for us. So when BullMasitiff asked in local if anyone wanted a 1 vs 1 I knew I could trust him enough that I would not get blobbed.

As soon as we engaged I knew I was in for a rough fight as BullMastiff was using a Projectile fitted Punisher, which offers a few distinct advantages over a Rifter, namely more cap. As the fight proceeded we entered a stage where it was a stale mate as I was able to speed tank the majority of his damage and what I couldn’t my armour rep was able to fix. Unfortunately for me BullMastiff was able to do the same thing. Then I ran out of cap. My Afterburner shut down increasing the damage I was tacking and of course I couldn’t repair it. The first Rifter died.

Rifter 2

Battles

Thrasher, Rifter vs Caracal, Megathron – Defeat

Once again I was in Doril with a fellow corp member who was flying a Thrasher. On D-Scan we located a Caracal, Piloted by Rambo7 another Outbreak member, who was flying around a plant. We decided to engage him. Upon engaging him we ran into one problem, the Caracal had ECM drones, so my Thrasher wingman wasn’t able to apply DPS, until I was able to kill the drones, by which it was too late for him as the Caracal killed him. It was just me and the Caracal and things were going fine until Vanakov Mek’lanavar lands on grid in a Megathron and puts his drones and a neut onto me resulting in the death of Rifter number 2.

Rifter 3

Battles

Rifiter vs Caracal – Defeat

I wasn’t about to let the loss of Rifter 2 stop me from going out and trying again. While checking out the gates in Doril I came across Rambo7 in his Caracal again on the Utopia gate. Time for round two. I turned on my Afterburner and proceeded to orbit Rambo7 at high enough speeds that his missiles were doing minimal damage to me. Additionally, his lack of drones, since I had already destroyed them, made this battle a fair bit easier. However, my damage output wasn’t that great so I asked Aliee Ross who was in system with me in Manticore to give me hand. Bad move. As soon as Aliee engaged Rambo7’s friends jumped in and proceeded to reduce my Rifter to shiny space dust.

Rifter 4

This Rifter and its crew were also sold into slavery where they died a painful death without the benefit of my presence.

Rifter 5

Battles

Rifiter vs Rifter and Manticore – Victory

            Rifter vs Crusader – Defeat

Once again I was sitting on the Sendaya gate waiting for a potential target when a Rifter, flown by Carebear715, and Manticore jumped in and the held on the gate. Hmm 2 vs 1, but that Manticore wasn’t going to be doing too much damage to me while using torpedos and the Rifter pilot was evidently a Carebear. Engage it was then. The battle was short and quick resulting in the destruction of the Rifter while the Manticore was to faraway to get a point on him, thus allowing him to escape. I consider this to be my first proper solo kill.

This Rifters final battle was against Crusader piloted by Cordarouy Pants who was sitting on the Sendaya gate looking for a fight. Well I was game; a Rifter should a least be able to hold its own against a Interceptor, or maybe not. By the time I had him in half armour I was in deep structure. At least this time I didn’t cap out.

Rifter 6

Battles

Rifter, Ishtar vs Incursus, Typhoon – Victory

Rifter vs Harbinger, Vagabond vs Drake – Victory and Defeat

OUCH used to be friends with another corporation called Quality Control until for various reasons our relationship broke down, so now we shoot each out instead of being friends. So when we see ForgedLiberty sitting on the Sendaya gate in a Incursus we figure that he is bait for Kevees, another QC member in local. In this knowledge Quintaki, flying an Ishtar, and I decided to kill him, which was done rather quickly. As soon as he was dead Kevees warped in with his Typhoon and we all warped out.

Punisher004 was flying around in Doril in his Drake looking for a kill. Unfortunately for him so were BullMastiff, Harbinger, and Vanakov Mek’lanavar, Vagabond, both of whom are Outbreak members. Punisher004 got caught by BullMastiff as he jumped into Doril from Utopia and was quickly engaged by Vanakov as well. I decided to jump into the fray as well making it three way fight in which everyone else targeted me and then promptly killed me. Ah well at least Punisher004 was also quick to die.

Rifter 7

Battles

Rifter, Thrasher vs Drake – Defeat

Crorono, in a Thrasher, and I had a set up a Drag Bubble on the Sendaya gate to see what we could catch. As it turned out we caught a Drake piloted by OLEKBOLEK who quickly reduced Crorono’s Thrasher to space dust. Me in all my good sense decided to warp out and fight another day, only for me to engage him latter on only to be neuted once again and reduced to scrap metal myself. Next time I should just die fighting at the side of my corp mates.

Rifter 8

Battles

OUCH; U’K vs Waterboard – Defeat

            Rifter vs Claw – Defeat

This Rifter went on a 20 man roam with our fleet consisting of mostly Frigates with a few Battlecruisers. While travelling through Curse we ran into a Ushra’Khan gang who requested our help in killing a Waterboard fleet consisting of mostly Battleships. Well we were game for this. Unfortunately, for us this battle took place on station where they undocked a Thanatos and used logistics ships to repair their fleet, preventing us from killing any of them. Fortunately, for me though my Rifter got out alive.

Later that day though I watched Dazamin, flying a Claw, jump into Doril from Sendaya so I went to engage him. The fight was going well enough apart from the simple fact that the damage I was tacking was to consistent for me to simply pulse my small armour rep, so I had keep it online until I ran out of cap and got my ship destroyed once more.

Rifter 9

Battles

            Rifter vs Crusader  - Defeat

Phejet warped onto the Sendaya gate while I was patrolling a bubble, so closed in on him hoping I would have better luck against this crusader unlike the last one. This time the Crusader managed to stay at range and destroy Rifter 9 from afar. I feel though if I had being able to close in on him I would have won as I still managed to take him into half armour despite being at the edge of my fall off.

Rifter 10

Battle

Rifter vs Hurricane, Hurricane, Manticore, Manticore – Defeat

Negotium Alliance had set up a Camp on the Sendaya gate that involved lots of bubbles so I decided to sit on top of it and watch the fun from afar. Unfortunately for me I wasn’t paying attention and a Hurricane got close enough to get a point on me and ruin this Rifters day.

Rifter 11

Battle

Rifter vs Dramiel x 3, Malediction, Nemsis, Purifier – Defeat

Outbreak saw Negotium’s little gate camp and crashed it scoring some nice kills. While they were looting the wreaks I noticed that a Malediction was a little off from the others so I decided to take it on and hope that I killed it before the Dramiels that were also flying around were able to destroy my last Rifter. Unfortunately, the best laid plans never work and the Malediction survived while my poor Rifter joined the other 10 Rifters in Rifter heaven.

So there we have it the life and times of 11 Rifters pressed into my service. They one and all died painful deaths, but it was allot of fun. I have to say though that I think I need to tweak my fit a little bit as I would like to make it a bit more cap stable as well as making it a little faster then what it is and maybe see if I can fit war disrupter instead of the war scrambler. Or I could just use a similar set up on some Punishers. I am still tossing up what I should buy with the next batch of ISK, Punishers, Thoraxs or a Sabre. Personally I’m leaning towards the Sabre at the moment but we will see what happens.

Now my challenge to all you Industrialists and Carebears out there; go do what I have just done. Go buy yourself 10 Rifters, Punishers, Kesterals or something else and go PvP in them till you lose them. You will have fun and you won’t regret it.

My Worst Loss

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

The Captains Log 28/2

Solar System: Doril

Station: Archangels Assembly Plant

Over at K162 space Blake asked what the worst loss we have was and did it make us want to quite to emo rage around the room for a bit.

Well the worst loss I have ever had was this Ferox I had fitted with a Pithium A-Type Shield Booster I bought using Plexs. With it fitted I thought I was invincible, even more so when I was running explorations sites where I would have to be probed down (this was with the old probing mechanics). Unfortunately, this proved to be not the case as I got killed fairly easly by a small group of pirates while finishing of a exploration site. Infract I was just warping out as they came in and tackled me. Did I explode in emo rage after this? No I didn’t, as it was not a big deal. It is a game.

The only losses that really annoy me are ones that are due to not my bad piloting skills but my internet disconnecting, the power going out or server lag, much like this loss. In other words things out of my control.

Operation Kent: First Blood

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

The Captains Log 22/9

With Operation Kent now in play I decided it was time to go and chose a ship and get it in position to deal some damage to the Proviblock alliances. After some deliberation I decided to use my Manticore for this operation, so I took a noob ship over to the Sys-K Stain Region staging point, picked it up and took the Jump Bridge network to empire, where I sat out side a providence entry point.

While waiting, intelligence reported that there was a gate camp one jump into Providence that had a Eris in it. Perfect. Another chance at a bombing run to try and take out a Interdictor after the failed attempted on the Goonswarm Sabre that resulted in the destruction of my Hound. Now if only I had a bomb launcher. I raced over to nearest system with one for sale, picked it up and fitted it to my ship.

Once in Providence I decided to warp immediately to the gate and hope I entered warp before the Eris got its bubble up, thus putting me within striking range. Unfortunately, the bubble went up first so I got caught in it. My brilliant piloting skills though got me out of the bubble, so I started to drift into a bombing run position behind the gate. Before I got into position though a UK vagabond (who I’m blue too) jumped through the gate, prompting the Eris to put up its bubble and for the whole gate camp to rush into the bubble.

Now this was problematic. I had the perfect opportunity to use my bomb, but I was not in position and it would therefore take me my full align time before I could warp out. Additionally, I was not quite in range as I was 40km out, meaning any target had to be within 5km of where the bomb exploded. So throwing all caution into the wind and ignoring my own advice on how to use a bomb, I decided to go for it.

I hit approach on the Eris, uncloaked my ship and launched my bomb and watched it fly across the void towards its targets in eager anticipation of the resulting carnage. The sound of lock alarms though brought me back to the real world as my overview indicated that a Brutix was establishing a lock on me. Sweat began to pore down my head and my heart began pound. If this guy managed to lock and tackle me this operation would be over. I was half way aligned when his lock resolved and hybrid ammunition began to pound into my shields. Then it happened, my Manticore finished aligning and entered warp just as the stargate was lit up in enormous flash as my bomb exploded.

Checking my log it turns out the Brutix that was shooting me was utilising railguns, giving it a sniper fit. Also my bomb had failed to kill anything and only damaged a Proteus that had being sitting on the gate. Ah well there will be more opportunities in the future.

Operation Kent

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

The Captains Log 17/9

Well I have just got a new operation up and going: Operation Kent (took me awhile to think of that name). For now I can’t release any details as it involves a bit of secrecy. What I will tell you is that it should net me some nice kills. Well that’s the intention of it anyway.

I actually tried to get this operation running a couple of months ago but it failed and it has taken me that long to my character in position again to take advantage of recent opportunities. As it turns out all the preparation I made for the operation was unnecessary. Ah well it’s good to take precautions.

Kills

2/9/09

Armageddon – Went for a roam into KIA space and found this lovely guy coming to a gate ready to be killed. Lost my Sabre though. Blog Post

Losses

30/8/09

Taranis – Saw a friendly Curse being engaged by a Brick Vagabond. As I am such a great guy I decided to help my allies and I paid the price. My Taranis went pop. Got all my loot back.

31/8/09

Taranis – Saw a CVA Taranis flying around so I decided to take him on (I had back up behind me). Unfortunately, he was little better than me took my Taranis out before my back up arrived. Got all my loot back.

2/9/09

Sabre – The above Armageddon killed my Sabre after I got stuck in my own bubble. Still not a bad trade. Blog Post

5/9/09

Hound and Pod – This loss just pissed me off.

Disscussion

Well as you can see my PvP for this week was quite bad. I even missed out on all the CTA’s for the weekend, which wasn’t cool. To make this even worse I have now lost the majority of my PvP ships, leaving me with just my Manticore and Onyx for alliance CTA’s. Though I do still have a couple of battleships that I can fit out for PvP. However, I don’t like flying battle ships. I might have to take a hit on my wallet (which I don’t want to do) and buy some more ships
